A simple but handsome facultative rheophyte from Sumatra and Borneo, where it lives in both fast-flowing water like streams and rivers, and wet, non-flowing environments, adapting its growth depending on seasonal water levels.
Leaves are simple, lanceolate and deep green when grown in shade, with a silvery-white band running down the midrib. A chunky and well-draining inorganic medium like Akadama is ideal, if humidity of at least 65-70% can be maintained. It is also adaptable to indoor conditions as a houseplant, where a more moisture-retentive medium like sphagnum moss is recommended.
